Worship
"The First Presbyterian Church of East Brady exists to receive and share the love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ."
A congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA)in the Presbytery of Kiskiminetas, we are at the corner of Kelly's Way (formerly Broad Street) and 4th Street with a wonderful view of the river. Parking is available adjacent to the river.
Our sanctuary is on the second floor. All floors are handicap-accessible. Assistive devices for the hard-of-hearing are available.
Sunday Schedule:
Worship 10:30AM
Sunday School 9:30 AM (classes available for Preschool to Adults) Our Interim pastor is the Rev Mr Robert I Moore (HR).
We worship monthly at the Russell House Personal Care Home - the first Sunday of each month at about 1:00 PM.
Our congregation is very fortunate to worship in a beautiful building nestled along the Allegheny River. Given to the congregation in 1926, the four story mansion is a wonderful home for this congregation.
A majority of our members are volunteers for church and community, with a variety of skills. Members serve with the ambulance, volunteer fire company, playground committee, town council, local Revitalization group, service organizations and on the boards of the Housing Authority, Medical Center and Historical Society. Members help maintain the Veteran’s Park, and our church places fresh flowers there often. We provide space for and maintain the town’s only lending library.
We have a close-knit congregation, more like a family than members who simply attend the same church. We know each others’ job skills as teachers, technicians, medical and service providers and industry managers. Virtually every member has a role in the congregation, whether singing in the choir, serving on Session, visiting the sick, or preparing a funeral dinner. We work together well, depending on and supporting each other. We may sometimes disagree, but rarely does it delay our purpose and never does it divide us.
Although we are not a large congregation (currently 102 active members), we have an extremely wide but single vision of our purpose and mission. We set high goals and reach them through our love and devotion to God, our church and our community.
We strive to not only grow our membership and revitalize our congregation but to become known as a community church where all are welcome to come and explore the joy of Christ’s message. As we help to advance our areas’ basic services, we hope to attract those who have not seen the church make a difference in their lives before. We seek to show residents the joy of volunteerism. We welcome visitors and are glad to visit with those who stop in to see what we're up to!
Activities are available for all ages - see our calendar!
